SPIRIT OF THE BUSH SUCCESS
31-10-07
Yesterday's Queensland Spirit of the Bush Concert in Roma was another big country day out.
Lee Kernaghan organised the concert in conjunction wih the Queensland State Government, the third in a series which has taken in Victoria and NSW, in the name of drought relief, providing drought-stricken farmers with a diversion from their day to day worries.
"At this very moment many people on the land are under incredible strain," Lee said. "Finances have been stretched to breaking point and many businesses are barely hanging on.
"Everyone in Australia is quite aware of the drought but they may not know of the personal hardship that many farming families are facing on a day-to-day basis."
One of the aims of the concert, Lee said, was to let struggling farmers know that they were not forgotten.
Thousands of people travelled from throughout Queensland and interstate to attend the event including many farming families.
Joining Lee on stage were Adam Brand, Steve Forde, Shea Fisher, Leo Sayer, Alyece Simmonds and The Sunny Cowgirls.
