Hay House Australia lend a hand

08-01-09

When Lee undertook his Paddock Tour of drought affected communities during 2008 he met with farming families, farming organizations, community service groups, rural financial advisers and local Drought Councilors in each area that he visited. The information they passed on as to what was really happening in the bush and within some family units in drought affected areas has struck a deep chord with Lee .

On completion of the Paddock Tour Lee met with his friend Leon Nacson, Managing Director of Hay House Australia, a major publishing company of self- help and personal growth books and programs. Mr Nacson agreed to help Lee distribute many of their titles from their authors such as Deepak Chopra, Dr Wayne W Dyer, Louise Hay and Ester and Jerry Hicks to Drought Councilors in Victoria and South Australia.

Allannah Jenkins, Drought Councilor for the Kyabram shire, Victoria said, "the books are making a huge difference. As a team we always try to focus on the positive. The Hay House books are a fantastic resource and tool we are able to utilize with the many families we are working with. There is no doubt that these wonderful books change the way people think. The look on people’s faces when they receive a book with a personal message from Lee is priceless. The books not only provide a huge boost but they also give these people who are fighting real hardship the tools to keep fighting on and staying positive. Yesterday we received the first shipment of children’s books and we can’t wait to get them out into some of the families we are working with. We are so thankful to Lee and Hay House Australia for these fantastic books which are now very significant in the way we work".

Lee commented, “I am deeply appreciative of Hay House Australia’s generosity. Many of the books that have been sent out have personally inspired me and helped me on many levels in my life. I’ve also read the Dr Wayne W Dyer children’s books to my own boys Jet and Rock who are aged 7 and 6 and have seen first hand the positive results from Dr Dyers wonderful words of encouragement and wisdom”.

Lee said, “I think it would be impossible to over estimate the important contribution our drought councilors have made in many communities. Most are on call 24 hours a day providing important information and emotional support to families in crisis. It is well known that many lives have been saved thanks to the tireless efforts and care that has been shown by the drought counselors.

“I know there is a high level of concern in many communities that funding for drought councilors may end as early as June 30th, 2009. My hope is that the contribution these wonderful people make is fully recognized and that their important work is able to continue for as long as necessary. We need to make sure that there are programs around that are flexible enough to take account of the complexities that many farming families face. We can’t afford to let any families fall through the cracks.”
