Bushfire charity CD produced in record time

Lee Kernaghan has joined a powerful array of Sony Music artists to produce a charity compilation CD in a record 5 days to aid the Victorian bushfire appeal. The average turnaround for a similar compilation album would normally take 6 weeks.

BUSHFIRE AID — Artists for the Bushfire Appeal is a double CD featuring tracks from artists such as Bruce Springsteen, Lee Kernaghan, Billy Joel, Midnight Oil, Hoodoo Gurus, John Farnham, Delta Goodrem, Jessica Mauboy and John Butler Trio.

Chairman and CEO of Sony Music Entertainment, Denis Handlin, said all of the artists and songwriters featured on the CD donated their tracks royalty free.

Sony DADC Australia also waived the production costs in producing the charity album.

"I know everyone in Australia shares deep concern for this tragedy, its horrific toll on life, families, communities and wildlife. On behalf of Sony Music and the Sony Foundation, our thoughts and prayers are with those affected, and our immense gratitude goes to all the emergency service people and volunteers who have so generously given in this time of need," Handlin said.

BUSHFIRE AID — Artists For The Bushfire Appeal is in stores now. All proceeds from the sale of the CD will go to the Salvation Army Bushfire Appeal.
